Starspangled Rodeo late scr in the last comp race

Late scratchings will go to the TAB sub followed by the 2nd favourite by TAB win odds in that order. If more than one horse meets the latter criteria then the replacement will be the horse with the higher number.

Looks like 14-Nudge will be the TAB Favourite, currently around $4.50; followed by 4 - Bottega , currently around $6.80, closely followed by Phaistos.

All 5 'Showtime' were on Starspangled Rodeo - and a big run from Nudge (ie. 1st)  will see them home.
We'll see ! 😁

To win:

Escapists need-

Phaistos to win for Rex

Showtime need-

Nudge (if it is the #1 sub) to win for Gordy

Ardern Up need-

Laure Me In to win for Ian

OR

(possibly) a Munitions/Archedemus quinella in any order for Zac and hope it pays enough

OR

Phaistos to win for Stevie

No Howie, somehow things changed. We will have to take the TABs word for why it closed the sub.

Their own website showed this 5 mins after the race closed. And anyway you look at it you would assume Nudge...

Round 7 - Saturday Apr 24

Race 10 - Randwick R8

1st - 12 Rocha Clock W-$5.30

2nd - 14 Nudge Q-$14.00

Scr: 9(L),15

Subs: #12 then #14

1 ESCAPISTS* (3rd)

$1305.40

0 (x 2 Joker play) = 0 points

4 SEAGULLS (2nd)

$1854.20

4 points

Phaistos, the Escapists only hope in the last for a successful Joker play, was the victim of a fairly average ride from Bowman flashed home far too late so the Seagulls prevailed with Pete snagging a quinella to get up and nab the scorer giving them a further bonus point for the 4-1 margin on top of that for a team profit achieved after 9 races. Sharne with a BB and Steve with a beaut BB quinella completed the scoring for the Seagulls for whom Sharne was MVP while Jack bagged a BB off the sub for The Escapists for whom Roland was Man of the Match.

82.00 Jen

265.20 Maurice

311.60 PJ

364.00 Pete

208.00 Jack

542.00 Sharne

135.60 Rex

336.20 Steve P

568.20 Roland

346.80 Hesi

3 SHOWTIME (5th)

$1288.80

2 points

2 BARELLAN (1st)

$726.80

0 points

The sub (but not the one you thought it was going to be) got up for Gordy in the last as he nailed the previously unbeaten Tom to win it for Showtime who were all on the final winner via the sub ! Punter Pete - his team's MVP - on his own replied for Barellan. Gary, with 6 winners, was Man of the Match. No bonus points were earned.

87.00 Maria

132.60 Howie

373.80 Heather

173.00 Punter Pete

469.00 Gary

133.00 Craig

249.00 Gordy

146.20 Tom

110.00 Porky

142.00 Geoff

3 MAXIS* (7th)

$1658.60

3 (x 2 Joker play) = 6 points

2 ARDERN UP* (6th)

$1770.80

2 (x 2 Joker play) = 4 points

BYE - RAMONES (4th)

$963.60

0 points

Ardern Up's two hopes never yelped in the last so the Maxis held on for a much needed win with their successful Joker play. Pam got their final winner while Ian, who was just pipped by Ray for Ardern Up MVP honours, bagged a BB in the last - both these via the sub. Captain Max with a huge score was Man of the Match with his two longshot winners. Ardern Up nevertheless took a point for a team profit and another for a superior aggregate which bagged them 4 points from their Joker play. The Maxis also took a bonus point (becoming two) for a team profit. Rees was the sole scorer for the Ramones in the last ending the day as their MVP but they trailed the other two teams by a margin so no points secured.

70.00 Pam

492.20 Ray

135.60 Blind Squirrel

312.00 Ziggy

630.20 Max

475.00 Ian

413.60 Graeme

185.00 Zac

409.20 Rob

306.60 Stevie N

168.00 Dino

309.20 Rees

217.60 Richie

102.20 Gee

166.60 Baby

Table after Round 7

1st 18 Seagulls $7870.60

2nd 18 Barellan $7780.60

3rd 12 Maxis $7096.80

4th 11 Ardern Up $7626.60

5th 10 Escapists $7301.00

6th 10 Showtime $6147.40

7th 9 Ramones $4930.00

Barellan's loss today without scoring any points left them open to be usurped as table leaders and the Seagulls took that opportunity to leap over the B boys and lead them now by less than $100 on aggregate. The Maxis Joker-fuelled win saw them rise out of the cellar a massive 4 places to secure 3rd while their victims Ardern Up still made up two places in defeat with bonus points. The Escapists unsuccessful Joker play saw them drop two spots while Showtime won but lost a place (!!??) while The Ramones slipped 3 places into the cellar on their unsuccessful bye round. Only half way there so plenty of action to come as Winter sets in.

Well.. I didn't see that sub replacement coming, I'd already just marked Heather down for a Quinella and the rest of us missed out.. that's racing folks 🙂     Well done Showtime!  you beauties 🥂 cheers! ..   and I will just celebrate as Captain that did nothing due to a better performance by my opponent Howie 🙂  .. but still managed to lead a team to a win 🙂    As PJ said it's half way and things are still pretty close, everything to play for  🙂   Bring on the softer going.. the leveller 🙂

Thanks Howie and Barellan, great match, all day it was close and those matches are always fun.

Ta muchly PJ as always and roll on next week 😉

Congrats to the 'Showtime' team, Captain Maria, me good ole Blues mate Gordy, Gary, Heather, and Porky, getting in the decisive stride and taking out a well-merited victory over us previous Comp leaders, the team Barellan.
Heather and Gary in particular playing 'blinders', and Gordy getting the crucial victory in the last over the Comp's top selector Tom, no mean feat.
Not our best day "teamies' in Team Barellan ..... but we almost got away with it. If Rocha Clock has paid 10 cents less we'd be laughing. But it's the small margins that make these PJ Comps so entertaining.
We've all got a ways to go yet as this Comp plays out ...and every team has still got a chance.
At the start of the Comp I made the Seagulls the favourites ...and I still have them as favourites.
But watch out Pete ...we team Barellan have youse in our line of sight ! 😄
Many thanks PJ for another superb day of great racing entertainment.

Congratulations to the SEAGULLS ..... lets hope for the challenges of the more wintry comps where things will change , challenge us as PJ keeps us guessing round nz and oz.

Good effort Teamies .... but we were outgunned in the last ..... suggest we either send the bill to HUGHIE or the Seagulls fly a bottle of champagne his way !!!!

Thanks once again PETE for your teams friendly competiton.

Thanks PJ once again for helping me out ..... now where is the Axe !!!!!
