To keep me buoyant, I remember the first horse PJ and I bought: Modem. A big, dark Omnicorp. Pete said he's either going to be very very slow or pretty good. WELL. He developed a liking for staying (for some distance) in the stalls before deciding he'd have a crack. It was the Egmont Cup 1999. He caught the field at the halfway mark and continued the run. At the turn, Pete says "where is he?" "He's in FRONT" I squealed. We won it, beating Sapio.
