ROUND 9 - Saturday September 30

We start the day with a R75 at Day 1 of the Bay Spring Premier Carnival. Then PJ gets some down time to have lunch (I've missed out a few times lately!). We re-commence with the HB Guineas where the gun 3yos face off before a quick trip to Sydney for the first baby girls race of the year at Randwick in which almost every runner has smart trial form. Could be a puzzle that one....

Then it's back to the Bay for the Gr1 Arrowfield with all the big names fronting up. A competitive and even open stayers contest follows and then we round out the day at The Bay with a wide open restricted stayers contest where BBs will be flying everywhere and some big prices will be on offer.

Then we nip back to round out our card at Randwick starting with the gun fillies in the Flight, a last-chance Everest rehearsal in the Premiere and then the Spring's big two Sydney handicaps - the Epsom and the Metrop. The wuffie kings and queens will be licking their lips for these two. Last week showed everyone how important that magic "comp race 10" can be.

This week's star match has the rapidly improving Swamp Foxes take on the former leaders - The Magpies - in their own back yard (well, for half the day) with Antz and Black Caviar the top guns from each team meeting head-on. In Round 2 the Chiefs played their Triple Joker against the Ferdies in the Battle of the Awakino Gorge. Now the Ferdies top the table will the Chiefs be so bold or maybe a Joker will come flying from the other direction ?

The Auckland Blues are the next obstacle facing the Kauri Kats in their mission to make the playoff places with some fascinating match-ups none less than Pam and Roland where no one knows who will blink first...

Finally the Highlanders have a 4 point lead over the Turbos but the Manawatu team actually have a better aggregate. This looks sure to go down to the wire with each team looking to their Magnificent Seven stars (Howie and Our Maizcay) to lay the foundations for victory.

After eight rounds only the mercurial Maurice remains unbeaten but he faces a stiff challenge from the Brisbane-boosted Lightning Blue who is in rude health for this clash. And it had to happen of course - the random draw generator decided that with two players winless after 8 rounds that there would only be one after nine as as hapless Hesi faces off against grim Gee - each with a 0/7 formline. Someone should run a market on this one.

Lastly I would remind all Captains about Joker Rules, so work out your strategies with your team. It's quite easy to end up being unable to play your Triple Joker if you get it wrong.

Have fun and good luck everyone !

Remember you must have at least 6 different picks (of 20) for those who post after their opponent

What a ripper!!!. the Round 2 re-match see the Champs Heather ( who mauled me all 10 winners) up against the Mastery of our super 'stable star' Robert (who also had all 10 winners in round 2 )      PJ has set me the unbeaten Maurice looking to go 9-0 for the season 😳 . thanks PJ ! 😁 I'm having Ferdies nightmares lol.

(think I'll be watching Lions Grand Final Maurice 🏆 ) and just be like a HAPPY CLAPPER 😊  ( Happy Clapper was 2nd to Winx a few times)  while the 'WINX like Moz' has  a gallop off into the distance with the picket fence of wins 🏆.   9-0 will be great form .

Hesi has the 'Maiden's match-up' there this week . Hesi Happy to see Robert Not slamming him with 10 winners against him like in round 2  ? .  Com'on Hesi mate !! if ya can't win this week I'm ringing Eddie Jones and booking you into the Wallabies Team  (and you'll probably get a start there too 😂 😆 )

Don't know about your treble but for most probably first time in my life I'm hoping for both Brisbane teams to win this weekend.

Lived in Brisbane (Browns Plains) 96 -99 but never supported any Q Teams.

League always been a sad Parramatta supporter

AFL Started off supporting Essendon due to Matty Lloyd , then changed to Sydney Swans cos seemed to end up at there Kings Cross establishment but once GWS joined the Comp I've supported them.

Nearly , nearly but no cigar to be in final!!!!!!!!

So yes for 1st time ever I'm cheering on Brissie!

Hi PJ ,

Do you realise there is only half an hour between Randwick scratchings being finalised in NZ (11am) and closing time NZ (11:30am)?

Cheers,

Craig.

Scratchings at Randwick close at 10.30am NZ time and are usually published within 5 minutes. Just under an hour before entries close. And just under 90 minutes before comp closes. Sorry it's a little tight. I will post them as soon a s they are declared, on Hesi's scratching thread unless he beats me to it. Captains be vigilant. Thanks for raising the point, Craig.
