ROUND 12 - Saturday October 21

Trentham looked unappealing so ditched it and stuck in a $1m race from Sydney that will be quite the challenge.

We start the day at te Rapa with a rare restricted stayers contest and then the open sprint. We duck over to Melbourne for a VRC Derby prep race with a ton of form in a small field. Then it's back to Hamilton for the two features of the day and round off there with a restricted mile with plenty of form to unwrap.

Caulfield then beckons with a couple of small fields for a pair of Group 2 races then it's a quick dash to Randwick where some familiar 5yos try to win the Five Diamonds Prelude. We are back to Caulfield to end the day with the time honoured Caulfield Cup where anything could happen !

This week's star match sees the Swamp Foxes looking to bounce back from last week's loss and fend off the three teams immediately below them, any one of which may opt for a Joker-fuelled win to break into a Finals berth. They take on the Ferdies who have the slimmest of grasps on the table lead.

The Magpies are determined to take back the lead but need to see off an unpredictable Kauri Kats crew. I'm picking a landslide win either way !

Only 4 points and very little difference in aggregate separate The Blues and The Highlanders in their encounter. The Roland v Rob clash could prove crucial to this result as they meet in a fascinating HTH.

Lastly, can The Chiefs luck finally change as they take on the Manawatu Turbos fresh off a sweet win last week ? The Turbos triumphed narrowly in the earlier clash but I get the feeling the Chiefs with half a home advantage may play their Joker and go hard to dent the Turbos' finals hopes.

Gee whiz Gee, is this your week ? The drought has to end soon and Blind Squirrel will prove a pesky opponent to break the duck. Those looking for revenge after first encounter defeats (back in Round 5) in renewed HTHs are Robert, Rees, Rob, Pete and Craig

Lastly I would remind all Captains about Joker Rules, so work out your strategies with your team. It's quite easy to end up being unable to play your Triple Joker if you get it wrong.

Have fun and good luck everyone !

Remember you must have at least 6 different picks (of 20) for those who post after their opponent

Please post on time. Let's have some fun and note the closing time...

... and this is where it gets really tricky, see ...KKs scheduled to play teams currently behind them - but by Sat nite may or may not be behind us!

Max has a cunning plan: throw Saturday's match and be in 7th place with two rounds to go...then swoop on the Highlanders (if they aint below us by then) with a Triple Joker on Cox Plate Day, take the 9-15pts and hope like hell its enuf to breeze into the top 4.

Eaasy-peasy, Japan-ese...or not.

Max notes that of the Bottom 4 at present, only the KKs have a Triple Joker to play anyway...and the Top current 4 are drawn against each other in most of their matches Rd 13&14

Time to shuffle off to work before the computations induce a headache. Poor Max.

Nahhh, you got your strategy wrong. The 'Pies will throw their match against you so they can be assured of playing their Triple Joker against The Ferdies next week 🤣

So according to Max & PJ, The Kats AND The Magpies will each hope to lose ! This should be hilarious to follow 😉

So do we , hasn't helped my cause one bit. Thank goodness for Gee on 0-11, I was starting to get a complex. My rubbish bin is full of Crystal balls, worn out darts, horoscopes, crumpled form guides ,Spark bills for  ringing a friend, and bandages from the end of my fingers from pointing too much,  not to mention the constant headache every Sat. 😖

Sounds like You getting a bit 'nervous' Hesi ?  seems the Magpies have levelled up and about to hit the lead maybe  ?

We did our best to hold them out last week at the Chiefs for ya mate , but it's been one of those sort of years 🙄. The Magpies sadly ran down the my mighty Brissy Lions in the AFL in front of the huge crowd in Melbourne the last little bit , and here in front of the huge NZ crowd Ian and his Magpies have mowed the Chiefs down last race as well. 😪

So am sorry mate , you'll have to play hard-ball to beat those Feathery Flocking Maggies yourself 😉. we weren't up to the task .

At this stage the assessment is, unless the Highlanders, Turbos or KK's do something miraculous, the Ferdies will make the top 4 without a 3x joker play

yeh mate, just like France beating the ABs in the first game of RWC...how did that work out for them? Gone before lunchtime (of the week before the semi-final). LOL. thank you, France...did the ABs a huge favour avoiding the Boks (hopefully for the whole tournament).
Individual aggregates/consistency doesn't matter either, I'm afraid to say, Hesi-meister. Have the best stats in the history of the Super Comps and you still have to win your first knockout game, bro.
Doesn't matter if you qualify 1st or 4th mate, as long as you don't finish 5th-8th...got that Kitty Kats?

Peter, it would be great if I was on the magnificent 7 list, but somehow you have given me a heap more than I have actually earned.

Before last weeks round I was on $2,249.60, and only earned $68.20 last week.

The way my past few weeks have gone I will be lucky to break $3,000 by the end of the comp.
