We used to have arguments at High School about him and Morrie Holmes and who was the better reinsman. Of course they were both bloody geniuses.

Too right, PJ. My tipping has never been so bad through 12 years of your Comps, as it was in your previous comp involving the 'Too Fast' team. Just goes to show ...one can go from feather duster to rooster in the blink of an eye ..... and the other way as well. That's the nature of your wonderful comps. Great entertainment. Thank you.

Superb. I was there the stinking wet day at Alexandra Park that was Morrie Holmes' final day of driving, enforced retirement due to age. Honestly, he could have won reining a donkey that day. 6 winners ...including things one gave no hope to. It was like he had his rivals, horses and reinsmen, mesmerised. I'd like to think that was Cardigan Bay the horse in the photo, but probably misssed by 3 or 4 years. Was probably in the United States by then.

Good reinsman but not averse to a bit of cheating, especially at Hutt Park. I heard him one night while looking over the birdcage fence say ( and I kid you not) " who,s turn to win is it". And one wonders why they got the moniker Theives on Wheels. Love em anyway.lol
