PWJ
ROUND 1- Saturday August 5 Heads up for Captains. It might pay to check in with all your team members before Saturday to check they are onboard for Round 1 We kick off the Spring comp with the time-honoured Koral Steeple where 8 Northern runners do battle - they could have held this at Awapuni and saved everyone the ferry trip ! Then it's some wide open flat contests culminating in the Winter Cup before we board the plane to Melbourne (currently a Soft 5 and raining) where some serious form study is needed then it's up to the Parramatta swamp where some class horses resume in the Missile Stakes (hope your radar is tuned for that one). Our old mate Polly Grey heads an interesting handicap in the Cup Prelude (aka the Chris Waller Stakes) and then we go back to Flemington for another dash down the straight to end the day with what should be a capacity field. Which team is going to make a line in the sand from the off ? Some tasty head-to-heads feature with Roland vs Robert, Moose vs LB (bound to be some banter there), Ian vs Craig (couple of top dogs there), and Rees vs Sharne (Wairarapa wipeout). Good luck everyone. Remember you must have at least 6 different picks (of 20) for those who post after their opponent NOTE: Steve P and Midnight Caller have subbed in for Tassie Tiger and Rex due to unavailability Please post on time. Let's have some fun and note the closing time... Close off at 12.05pm (NZ time) Races are: 1. Riccarton R4 - 1.05pm - Racecourse Hotel & Motor Lodge Koral Steeplechase - $50k, 4250m, open stpl 2.
