PWJ
ROUND 5 - Saturday September 2 We start the day with a R65 in the River City that could turn up some pretty prices then it's off on the ferry to Riccarton where six talented types resume in the open sprint giving us plenty to ponder. Then it's another go down the chute with a ton of form to sift through before we take on a small but tricky field in the metric mile. Then we nip across to Sydney for the obligatory non-Aus-bred stayers contest (hey this one has two Ozzies - miracle-of-miracles) before we duck back to Wanganui for the feature: the Guineas. After that we zip back to Randwick for a $1m Group 3 sprint feature a few old, familiar faces followed by some more in the WFA mile. To round out the day it's down to Melbourne for another tasty sprint and then the day's climax - the Gr1 WFA feature - to decide which teams will come away with the points. No excuse for not knowing any of these... Table leaders The Magpies take on an upbeat Kauri Kats mob who have Pam sidelined and need a supersub. Only one point separates the Ferdies and Swampies in what should be a titanic struggle with these two teams both in the top 3 for the comp on aggregate. The top scorers in each team - Magnificent Seven stars Heather and Punter Pete - meet in a Classic HTH clash ! The Auckland Blues have scored twice as many points as their opponents The hardy Highlanders but trail them by over $360 on aggregate - what on earth is going to happen in this battle ?? Lastly, the two bottom sides - the woeful Chiefs and the hard-done-by Turbos face off in the battle to be fought on the steps of the cellar. The Chiefs must click some time soon but the Turbos always fight to the death so it's anyone's guess who will triumph in this one. There could even be a Joker or two thrown into the ring. After just four rounds only Maurice, Pete, Stevie N and Moose are unbeaten but none of them have a "soft" opponent. Gary and Black Caviar will be wary of the fight in the dog as they face the two competitors yet to record a win - respectively Gee and Hesi (how much was his transfer fee? ) - after 4 Rounds. Geoff (2nd in the Serendipitous Six) faces Jamison (the most Unfortunate cat or human) in a HTH that seems to overwhelmingly favour the Ferdies new signing but Jammo might send a few black buddies to cross Geoff's path to victory. Lastly, there will be plenty watching to see if a rampaging Howie can continue his fine run of form that has taken him to the top of the Magnificent Seven but who better to take him on than Blues special agent Gordy who is due a big one. Have fun and good luck everyone ! Remember you must have at least 6 different picks (of 20) for those who post after their opponent Please post on time. Let's have some fun and note the closing time... Close off at 12.37pm (NZ time) Races are: 1. Wanganui R2 - 1.37am - Balance Accountants 2040 - $40k, 2040m, R65 2. Is Jammo a biter or a “roll over and tickle my tummy” type of cat? I kinda hoped Howie wouldn’t stand on his tail last week…. but he did ! Maximus
Well its clearly been a while since PJ did a tiki tour of 'middle' New Zillin.... it's off on the ferry to Riccarton by road from River Rat City to Wollygong then an interminable wait for the ferry to be crank-started and lurch outta there for the majestic Mullborough Sounds. This will happen only if the boat actually is seaworthy, the crew aren't on strike, and the passengers havent all been told to flock off and find another way across Cookie Strait cos the swell is officially over half a metre so it's too dangerous (for the crew, no one cares about you). another interminable wait, to be offloaded at picturesque Pickytown, followed by a long drive into Quake City as far as Ricketytown, as long as the road's open around Kaikoura. Your Corporate Hosp tickets to the racing includes a 'free' pie n Coke and your very own Reserved Seat in an uncovered red-stickered grandstand that is still standing (just). Mate, the inside word is that our HR people are checking his contract, looking for any performance clauses. He tells us he's a just a bit Rusty. The only Rusty I know was a fat pony my ex-girlfriend had as a teenage girl. I don't think that was Hesi ! The random draw generator has him facing off with a Champ this week but in his favour I note that in terms of $$ earned he is on $666 which might give him a devil of a chance.... Tough draw for your HTH this week too, Max
