PWJ Posted February 26 Posted February 26 ROUND 8 - Sat Mar 2 We kick off Part 2 of the Round Robin with 5 straight races from the revamped Ellerslie starting with a small but tricky field in the Kings Plate followed by a stamina test for the rising 3yo fillies then it is on to the Mufhasa Stakes offering another 3yo puzzle, then the wide open Rangitoto Classic which could offer some big prices for form horses. Finally the long-awaited NZ Derby where anything other than Orchestral will be at great odds. Then we head to Mangere to depart for Melbourne where the 3yo Inglis Sale horses will tear down the Flemington straight six in under a minute for $1,000,000. The prestigious Australian Guineas with a host of top 3yo boys and a couple of smart girls will battle it out with again some juicy odds sure to be on offer. Then we head for Sydney for a cracker field in the Surround for the 3yo girls followed by the more mature ladies fighting it out over 1400m and finally the critical decider, a quality handicap with a 7kg spread - choose carefully - it could be the winning or losing of your HTH or overall match. The big match this week is the high-powered Styx vs Kaos clash which features four of the Magnificent Seven stars. Midnight Caller manages to be both Magnificent and Unfortunate so opponent Howie will have plenty to think about in that HTH. Styx have a 3 point advantage over Kaos and ran out easy winners last time but the latter have a superior aggregate by over $300. Should be a close one. Magic have made it to the top at the halfway point and now face Showtime who snatched victory from defeat in their previous meeting. Heather back from a brief spell faces Craig and with both featuring on the Serendipitous chart we wonder who has the luckiest rabbits foot. The Reapers are 5 points better off but take on an Old Mate outfit with a better aggregate. In a low-scoring match in Round 1, Old Mate came from behind to snatch the win in the last. Will the Reapers be able to hold their nerve this time ? The battle between top scorers Ian and Rex promises to be a beauty. Lastly the two bottom sides Max Factory and The Seagulls are both in pretty much a must win situation with the qualifying mark 19 and 17 points away in the far distance respectively. The Seagulls prevailed comfortably in their first encounter but with a win last week The Factory crew may be hitting peak performance. Would not surprise me to see a Joker or two come flying out in this one. Gee is due a big score and Rees may be watching behind the couch on Saturday waiting for the Zero to drop its bombs. Of course most interest will be in the domestic scrap in the Lane household. Who will be washing the dishes come Saturday evening ? Remember you must have at least 6 different picks (of 20) for those who post after their opponent Please post on time. Let's have some fun and note the closing time... Close off at 1.52pm (NZ time) Races are: 1. Ellerslie R5 - 2.52pm - Haunui Farm Kings Plate (Gr3) - $150k, 1200m, open SW+Ps 2. Lightning Blue Posted February 29 Posted February 29 Ravinous Seagulls Rees and Graeme swooping in for some easy Fush and Chups in the sand as Gee and Max look a likely target. STYX thought that last week and were left with just a few scraps of the lemon and tartar sauce to suck a point or 2 out of the factory lol. 😅 Best of Luck to oppo Seagull Steve Paul and hoping Pete doesn't have to much issues with the mrs in their clash . Just tell Barb to 'Takes the greys' mate 😅. easy way out.🍾😉 Ellers5/ 2 - 3 BB It's Year of the Dragon , and being a dragon birth year for me too, surely with Imperatriz Oppie on board , he gets this home this time round . The fact we're in a different galaxy to you Perhaps if you changed your teams first name to Glue Glue Factory (Alwick) v Reapers (Vo Rogue) I used a Queenslander for you so you could stay in the game 3 Quote

Double R Posted February 29 Posted February 29 12 hours ago, Dancing Show said: 😲 I loved Alwick!! Even though I lived in the South Island, Alwick was generally in the second leg of the double in the central districts, and i am fairly sure was a front running horse, liked wet tracks, gave his best, and most of the time was rundown. I am going to start a thread of front running horses, as back in the "old days" 60's,70's, and 80's there was genuine front running horses. Start searching the brain fellow Race Placers. 2 Quote

We Styx will need to be "right on song" to take this one out. Am expecting this to be a very close contest. Personally I'm up against Midnight Caller, who features prominently in the 'Magnificent Seven' stats. On that basis I'd have to say I'm more hopeful than confident of causing an upset here. But the beauty of this comp - ya just never know. Upsets happen. I've got a starter's chance. Good luck to you, MC ! 🙂 Wishing the best of luck to my formidable Styx team-mates. For sure, this will be a very good match to win. Many thanks, PJ. 3 Quote
