ROUND 7 - Saturday September 16

Just a word about race selection: I have only gone to the 'Naki for one race given the current heavy 10 track with more rain predicted for Friday.

We start the day down the chute at Riccarton with a wide open Rating 65 which may get a few off to a good start, then the tricky open 1800 at New Plymouth before we head back to Christchurch for another fairly open restricted contest over a trip followed by the obligatory open sprint down the chute which any of ten or a dozen could win. The NZ feature for the day follows as the 1000 Guineas aspirants do battle.

Then we head for Royal Randwick for a couple of Group races with big fields which will have the roughie kings and queens licking their lips. The new $1m 7 Stakes featuring a stack of familiar big names follows and then another $1m is up for grabs for the speedsters including a few Everest aspirants in the lightning fast Shorts.

Apologies here for leaving out the star studded Makybe Diva (Gr1) in Melbourne. While I am sure we will all be watching what unfolds with great interest, a small field late in the comp program with a likely fave winner will have little impact on the team battles.

We do fly down to Melbourne however for the day's climax - an intriguing renewal of the Bobbie Lewis down the Flemington straight six where everyone usually gets their chance. This is Sparta !!! Or is it ???

Three of Saturday's clashes feature Joker plays including the mega Triple Joker head-on as the Magpies main rivals - the Ferdies and Blues - meet in a stellar faceoff. The table-topping Magpies will play their Joker and meet stiff opposition from a Turbos outfit still smarting from their failed Joker play last week. No easy match for the 'Pies for sure with each team's top scorers Antz and OM meeting head-on.

The Kauri Kats chance to launch themselves up to the leading group comes with a Triple Joker flourish against a hardy Highlanders side which is way more talented than their league position belies. My money's on the Otago lads !

Lastly the twice annual Battle of Morrinsville takes place as the Thames Valley Swamp Foxes attempt to lay waste to The Waikato Chiefs. No Jokers in play but likely to be a stellar contest with The Chiefs sure to get their sh*t together anytime soon while the Swampies will see this as a chance to put themselves among the leaders.

After six rounds only Ferdie Maurice remains unbeaten but this week he must face the abyss that is Roland. Goodness knows how that will turn out....   Hesi and Gee remain winless - Hesi's transfer is under scrutiny by the 'Naki legal team I might add - but they will find a first win no easy task as they face campaign veterans Gordy and Maria respectively.

Clash of the Day looks like the Our Maizcay v Antz encounter although the HTH between two scheming tacticians - Ian and Ray - could be the most interesting. Who will blink first ??

Have fun and good luck everyone !

Remember you must have at least 6 different picks (of 20) for those who post after their opponent

Swamp Foxes attempt to lay waste to The Waikato Chiefs. No Jokers in play

Well think we'll do something about that. The Swampies would of loved a Joker play so let's go the never seen before 'Reverse Double Joker'. Seems a shame Swampo's can't use a triple joker with the Chiefs  pretty much out of play after 6 weeks on a massive 0 pts..  might as well go different tact lol...😂🤣

I'm a Big Black Caviar Fan from way back with her undefeated 25 run career and carrying the salmon pink/black spots colours very similar to my Hot pink/black spots ones I raced in at the trots for a few years giving me a real soft spot for her.... So to give the Swampies and Black Caviar a chance of some extra points , will adopt the GEE method of carefully avoiding anything in the market which seems like a 'reverse Joker sort of play 😆.  (Jammo the cat needs to catch up to his carer PJ and those Ferdie Flyers too on the ladder ).  So best of luck Swampies !

and try and beat this lot BC 😁 (hey that Carlton 'Blue' bear on your Avatar  looks set to lose Friday night at MCG. My Avatar seems more of a winner ??  😉)
