To win:

The Blues need-

Strategic Demand to win for Roland

OR

Mahamedeis to win for Howie (must pay $3.00+ or Fanciful Toff complete the Q)

The Hurricanes need-

Mahamedeis or Sasko to win for Porky (must pay $3.00+ or either horse complete the Q)

The Barbarians need-

Under Oath to win for Moose

OR

possibly a Sasko-Under Oath quinella in that order and hope it pays enough

The Turbos need-

Possibly Fanciful Toff to win for Ray and Rees and Sasko to complete the Q for Ray and hope it pays enough

by the suspect calcs of Mustelid Maths, Mahameides can win it for the HairyCanes if it wins and pays $3.30+ or Sasko complete the quinella; or if Sasko wins (both for Porky)

however, the KKs can take 2 more Comp points if either Strategic Demand or Gold Ollie win

thrilling finish coming up !

2 TURBOS (4th)

Fanciful Toff never yelped so the Chiefs held on to win but were denied a bonus point when Steve snagged the quinella to collar Gee and pull one back for The Turbos. The Chiefs final collects came from Man of the Match Jack (an amazing 8 winners including the last 7 straight !), Stevie and a BB from Ian. Gary's picks via Ray earned him Turbos MVP honours. No bonus points were earned.

133.00 Rees

1 BLUES (8th)

Mahamedeis was never paying enough and Strategic Demand faded so The Ferdies held on and actually took a bonus point for a 4-1 margin as Ashoka snagged the quinella (as did Heather) to get up and nail Gordy with Maurice bagging a BB in the last for good measure. Howie got on the board to round out the day for The Blues. Geoff, the only Auk to win his personal match, was his side's MVP while Heather was an impressive Match Star for the victors.

365.40 PJ

140.00 Roland

115.00 Maurice

294.60 Geoff

280.20  Ashoka

250.00 Gordy

Under Oath couldn't figure in the finish evaporating the Barbarians' hopes of a win. The Crusaders added a bonus point for a 4-1 margin as Robert found the final winner, as did Craig, to reel in Ziggy by $1.40. Mardy (with a quinella), Richie (with a BB) and Pam scored the final $$ for the Babas. Richie's effort earning him Baba MVP honours while Rob was Man of the Match for the 'Saders.

163.40 Rex

64.00 Mardy

56.00 Tom

209.80 Richie

271.00 Rob

194.40 Moose

210.00 Craig

25.00 Pam

3 HURRICANES (5th)

 $814.00

2 points

2 KAURI KATS (7th)

$987.80

1 point

The Hurricanes got up to win it in the last with Porky bagging the desired quinella with it paying enough for him to nail Graeme. Virgil, John and Hesi also scored for the Capital Lads while Man of the Match - Rocky - with a BB and Max replied for the Kauri Kats who nevertheless took a bonus point for a higher aggregate. Virgil was MVP for the 'Canes in what was a great contest.

133.00 John

52.00 Jen

235.00 Virgil

51.00 Max

194.00 The Crucible

446.40 Rocky

162.00 Porky

154.00 Graeme

90.00 Hesi

284.40 Sharne

The Table after Round 4

1st 15 FERDIES* $4443.80

2nd 13 CHIEFS* $6113.40

3rd 11 CRUSADERS* $3543.20

4th 8 HURRICANES $4433.20

5th 7 TURBOS $3885.00

6th 3 BARBARIANS $2618.60

7th 2 KAURI KATS $4154.00

8th 0 BLUES* $3507.00

* joker played

The Ferdies' win today enabled them to double their lead at the top while The Chiefs and Crusaders keep up the pressure with wins as they remain 2nd and 3rd respectively. The Hurricanes' last gasp win takes them up a spot to 4th pushing the Turbos (who lost) down a place. The bottom 3 sides all lost but two of these - Babas and Kats - still have a Joker to play. 3 Rounds remain.

Can we add a topic to our next Zoom meeting?

Looks like J. "Crusher" Plodded is rallying the numbers.

I just knew he'd be troublle. ☺️

Well done the Ferdies ... red hot favourites today, and much too good.

Just hoping the rugby boys can turn thngs around tomorrow, against a struggling Chiefs.

Hey Peter can I just check whether the 20 minute and 10 minute (prior to Race 1) cut-offs still apply, or was that only for the last comp?

It didn't change the outcome of our match but I posted just before what I thought was the cut-off - 20 minutes before the first race, but that didn't seem to be relevant.

Not a biggie - just good to know for future Mexican stand-offs 😊

Thanks for all your great work.

Good question. There has emerged a loophole here where the Captain can still post if any of his team members (of which he is one) have not posted by the cutoff time. Happened to me today also as I thought I had posted and realised just in time that I hadn't. Max likewise. The rule is there to get everyone's picks in before the first to help me. Hope that explains it.
